If the process measures on OASIS-C are not required, why fill them out?

Q: If the new process measures are not required, what is the incentive to fill out those sections of OASIS-C?

A: Although there is a response option “no” for an agency to opt out of completing new process measures data, the Centers for Medicine and Medicaid Services (CMS) will be capturing information about evidence-based practices (EBP) and use the data for Home Health Compare. CMS will likely use OASIS-C data to recognize agencies that have incorporated EBP into their processes and link improvements in outcomes to adoption of evidence-based practices in a pay for performance (P4P) program. So although, at this time you won’t be fined for not filling it out, you may be rewarded for implementing it and how it improves outcomes.
