How do we answer M1700 when completing a non-visit discharge?

Q: How do we answer M1700 when completing a non-visit discharge?

A: Data used to populate the OASIS discharge assessment must come from a physical visit to the patient’s home in which the patient received a comprehensive assessment by a qualified clinician. If a non-visit discharge is required, the discharge OASIS assessment must be documented by the qualified clinician who made the last visit to the patient.  Since discharge assessment findings will be from a visit that occurred in the past, the assessment will likely not reflect the patient’s true homecare outcomes.
