Now that OASIS-C has been implemented, one of the biggest questions home health professionals have is how and when outcomes will be publicly reported. Here are some facts about public reporting and OASIS-C. Stay tuned for a more detailed list of all publicly reported measures next week.
1. Process Measure Outcomes
- Care process measures include timeliness, assessment, education, POC and implementation, and prevention
- Outcome-based Quality Improvement reports will include all process measures
- HHC will publicly report 13 measures
- Process measures reporting is scheduled to be provide at the end of 2010 for data collected in the first six months of 2010
2. Outcomes Measure: Potentially Avoidable
- Potentially avoidable events were previously called adverse events and are believed to be preventable events if an appropriate effective plan of care is implemented
- HHC will publicly report one event: Increase in unhealed pressure ulcers
3. Outcomes Measure: Utilization
- Utilization outcomes measure a change in the patient’s health status
- HHC will report two outcomes: With or without hospitalization
4. Outcomes Measure: End Result
- End result outcomes show change in patient status between SOC or ROC and discharge expressed in improvement or stablization (ie., doesn’t worsen)
- HHC will publicly report seven outcomes
- Outcome measures reporting scheduled to be provided July 2011 for data collected for a full year starting April 2010
